I have this calendar of H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji. On this weekly calendar there are quotes for the week. I thought I’d start posting them for everyone to see, since they’re pretty good.

I’ve seen Swamiji several times over the years and was lucky enough to take darshan (audience in which you receive blessing) with him this summer at Goldenbridge center. He’s a living Saint from India. A very holy man. If you ever get the chance to sit in the presence of a saint, I recommend it.
The first time I saw him was at Karuna Yoga in Los Feliz. There were about twenty of us in this small studio, everybody anticipating his arrival. I was pretty intrigued because of all the talk. He got there and he was running late so his assistant said a few words as he sat on the stage in prayer, looking at each of us. He was only there for a few minutes and then they left. I remember thinking to myself, This is what all the fuss was about? I wasn’t upset, just not impressed. Then the strangest thing happened. All the next day I was having the greatest day. Everything seemed to go right. So much so that I had to stop and marvel at the great day I was having. As my mind went to justify this seeming flow of good luck, I had a flash of Swamiji sitting on the dais, looking at each of us individually, closing his eyes and moving his lips softly. I realized then that he was blessing each of us and made the connection between that and my good fortune. They say a mere glance from a holy man or saint can change the course of your life. I guess they were right. I now teach kundalini yoga and wear funny hats.
